Message from the Division Chair

Letter from GDO Division Chair, 2021-22

Dear GDO members,

I am honored to serve as the GDO division chair this year because our division is a welcoming and vibrant place for diversity scholars.

Our focal topical area has taken on even greater significance in the last several years, and the research conducted by our members has the potential to inform social and policy issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The GDO division is a place to find kindred spirits to launch new projects and support your ongoing research interests.

I look forward to working with the 22 members of the Executive Committee on several projects this year, such as:

  • Completing the name and domain statement change, as recommended in the division’s recently completed five-year self-review.
  • Creating a communications and social media committee to update the division’s website and promote the division’s social media outlets.
  • Delivering a Writing and Publishing Workshop focused on doctoral students and junior faculty in developing regions.

Our division runs on volunteers, and you can see the roster of current board members here. Feel free to contact anyone one the executive committee with your ideas, questions, and comments. We welcome your participation.

With appreciation,

Joy E. Beatty

  • D&I Letter to Deans

The GDO division led an effort to write an informative letter directed to deans of business schools. The letter summarizes evidence that dispels common myths about D&I and recommends evidence-based strategies for improving D&I among business school faculty.
